UH Professor, Dr. Chien-Wen Tseng, M.D., Appointed to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force
Nominated by Schatz, Dr. Tseng Will Be the First Physician from Hawai‘i to Serve on National Health Care Task Force
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, issued the following statement after University of Hawai‘i professor, Dr. Chien-Wen Tseng M.D., M.P.H., M.S.E.E., was appointed to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Senator Schatz nominated Dr. Tseng for appointment to the task force.
“I congratulate Dr. Tseng on this appointment and for making history as the first physician from Hawai‘i to serve in this role,” said Senator Schatz. “The task force will be well served by her years of clinical, research, and policy experience, and I’m proud to have nominated her for this esteemed position.”
Members of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force offer their judgement to help develop evidence-based recommendations for preventive services like counseling, screening, and medication. The independent panel’s members are made up of experts in preventive medicine and primary care and serve 4-year terms.
