Schatz: Updated Grant Agreement Finalized, FTA Set To Release Millions For Honolulu Skyline
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), Chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation Housing and Urban Development, today released the following statement after Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi signed the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit’s updated full funding grant agreement (FFGA). With the FFGA finalized, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is now set to release millions in remaining federal funding, which was withheld by FTA following delays and changes to the original planned line.
“This is a big win that will deliver millions in federal funding to complete Honolulu’s Skyline. It was a long and difficult process, but HART and the City have worked hard to provide more accountability and get this project back on track. I will continue to work with our federal and state partners to make sure that we complete this project for the people of Honolulu.”
