Schatz Statement on Lawsuit to Block IANA Transition
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), Ranking Member of the Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, released the following statement in response to a lawsuit filed by four state attorneys general to block the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) transition.
“This baseless lawsuit is another cheap attempt by a fringe group to politicize the IANA transition. Congress has repeatedly rejected attempts to delay the transition. Technology and foreign policy experts from across the political spectrum agree that any delay of this transition would only empower our enemies and undermine America’s commitment to keeping the internet open and free.”
