Schatz Statement on Court Decision to Proceed With IANA Transition
HONOLULU – Today, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), Ranking Member of the Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, released the following statement in response to a federal judge’s decision to dismiss a lawsuit issued by four state attorneys general to block the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) transition.
“I’m glad the court found this lawsuit to be baseless, and appropriately threw it out. This decision is another clear sign that efforts from a fringe group to block the IANA transition are misguided and irresponsible. We can now keep our long-standing and public commitment to the global community to keep the internet open and free. It’s time to move forward with the transition.”
