Schatz Retains Chairmanship Of Appropriations Subcommittee On Transportation, Housing And Urban Development

As Chair, Schatz Delivered Record Federal Funding For Hawai‘i

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), Chair and Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee respectively, announced that U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) will remain Chair of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development for the 118th Congress.

“Last Congress, we delivered record federal funding to where people need it most – affordable housing, infrastructure, climate resiliency, and public transit. But we still have more work to do, so I look forward to continue working to bring more federal investments to communities across Hawai‘i,” said Senator Schatz.

Schatz has served as chair of the subcommittee since 2021. Last Congress, Schatz delivered record funding for affordable housing, roads, bridges, public transit, and infrastructure to Hawai‘i.

Last week, Schatz was formally elected as chair of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. He is also a member of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, and the Ethics Committee. In addition to his committee assignments, Schatz serves on the Senate Democratic Caucus's leadership team as Deputy Conference Secretary and Chief Deputy Whip.
