President Approves Individual Assistance For Kauai And Oahu Residents
Individual Assistance Would Unlock Further Federal Relief Funds for Kauai and Oahu Residents Impacted By Flooding
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) released the following statement on President Donald Trump’s approval of the State of Hawai‘i’s request for individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Kauai and Oahu residents whose homes have been lost or damaged due to historic flooding. FEMA’s individual assistance programs will help affected residents access critical federal funding and resources to recover.
“FEMA has been a great partner throughout the recovery process, and we thank the administration for approving this request. The communities on Kauai and Oahu are still rebuilding, and these new resources will be helpful in that effort. This decision also means that FEMA will open Disaster Recovery Centers on both islands so that people will have direct access to resources.”
