Obama Administration to Hold Public Meetings on Proposed Expansion of Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument
HONOLULU – At the invitation of U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) will conduct public meetings to accept comments on Senator Schatz’s proposal to expand the Papah?naumoku?kea Marine National Monument (PMNM). Participants are welcome to submit written materials to supplement their spoken comments to NOAA and FWS at the public meeting.
“It’s really important for people to have an opportunity to be heard,” said Senator Schatz. “I am grateful to President Obama and his Administration for accepting my invitation to hear directly from Hawai‘i residents before making any decisions.”
In addition, written comments will be accepted on Maui at the Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale Sanctuary Visitor Center, on Hawai‘i Island at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center, and on Oahu at the Honolulu Services Center.
