Senate Votes to Confirm Hawai'i's Pamela Hamamoto as U.S. Representative to United Nations

Punahou School Graduate Well-Qualified to Represent the U.S.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) and the United States Senate voted to confirm Pamela Hamamoto as U.S. Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva.  The United Nations Office at Geneva serves as a connection between research institutions, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, and diplomatic missions.  Hamamoto will have the rank of Ambassador and report directly to U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power.

“Pamela Hamamoto is well-prepared for this important role representing our country in the United Nations,” Senator Schatz said. “Pamela’s education and strong leadership experience makes her uniquely qualified to advance U.S. priorities in Geneva.  I was proud to vote for her confirmation and know she will do well in her new position.”

In addition to Punahou School, Hamamoto is a graduate of Stanford University and the UCLA Anderson School of Management.  Hamamoto has held positions at Pacific Gas & Electric Co., Hawaiian Tel, Goldman Sachs, and Merrill Lynch.  She has also served on the boards of numerous educational institutions, including The Branson School, Marin Country Day School, Stanford University Athletic Board, and Ring Mountain Day School.
