The growing cost of higher education means that college is out of reach for too many families.
To create greater opportunities for our students, Senator Schatz has authored the Debt-Free College Act. His bill would reverse the growing student debt crisis in the United States by incentivizing states to make their public colleges and universities more affordable.
As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Schatz has consistently secured millions of dollars in federal funding for Hawai‘i public schools and Native Hawaiian education programs. These grants support programs that improve levels of educational attainment and enhance family and community involvement in schools. He has also successfully advocated for federal funding for Native Hawaiian language education.
